Restorations

Preserving the character and charm of historic homes by providing meticulous restorations with a focus on authenticity and attention to detail.

Renovation of Historic Homes

  • Structural stabilization and repair (framing, floor leveling, etc)

  • Window restoration (repair/replace wood components or glass, glazing, weights, weather sealing)

  • Door and entry restoration (painting, refinishing, weather sealing)

  • Staircase and balustrade restoration (repair/replace lose or missing components, refinish)

  • Plaster repairs and stabilization (crack, delamination, surface restoration and painting)

  • Basement water intrusion mitigation (drainage and moisture management)

  • Exterior wood repair (trim, brackets, and cornices) (note: we are not an exterior house painting service)

  • Code sensitive renovations (we include any required permits in our project estimates)

  • Removal or correction of non-historic alternations

Enhancement of Historic Homes

  • Historically appropriate additions (decks, sunrooms, garages)

  • Custom production and installation of tongue and groove hardwood flooring

  • Custom production and installation in-lay hardwood flooring 

  • Custom production and installation of solid hardwood doors

  • Custom milling of replacement and installation of solid hardwood molding to match existing work

  • ​Custom milling of stair parts such as spindles, newel posts and handrails

  • ​Installation of quality reproduction windows

Bespoke Projects

  • Custom Historic Millwork (we use locally grown and harvested hardwoods from local sawmills)

    • One-off stair components (if it's made out of wood, we can most likely recreate it)​

    • Custom doors and door surrounds (using choice of local hardwoods)

    • Mantels, built-ins, and bookcases (we like a challenge)

    • Period correct trim profiles recreated from originals

Projects Types We Do Not Typically Undertake

  • Volume remodeling (repetitive, high-turnover renovation work)

  • Cosmetic only updates (simple painting, snap in flooring, etc)

  • Commodity kitchen or bathroom remodels

  • Landlord turnover or rental refreshes

  • Insurance driven restoration work (fire, water, storm repairs)

  • Roofing work (if part of a larger project, roofing work would be sub-contracted)

  • Plumbing work (if part of a larger project, plumbing work would be sub-contracted)

  • New construction of homes outside of rejuvenation of Marietta Historic District blighted properties

    • We only rejuvenate properties for use by homeowners not rental units​

  • Work that removes or significantly alters historic character in a negative way​
